For our independence a great army they fought, And by God's hand a miracle was wrought.
Fight was the only way they could see,
To get independence; this is the way it had to be.
So they fought and won.
Whether by sword, bayonet or gun.
They fought for our liberty.
They fought so America could be free.
On July 4, 1776, was our first Independence Day.
A price for freedom they were willing to pay.
It was hard fighting back in those days, America must be free to follow God's ways.
With a ragtag army God beat our foe, Maybe the purpose-the people did not know.
The Gospel God wanted America to preach, Now, those that have not heard we must reach.
We weren't there on our first Independence Day, We still fight to keep it that way.
Now America has departed from Your way.
Lord, come forgive America of her sins, don't delay.
America must return to what You called her to do.
Lest we lose favor with You.
If America forgets You and goes her own way, How much longer will we celebrate Independence Day?
People that came thought America was a land of bliss, But you see God had a hand in all this.
Today we celebrate Independence Day,
And I pray this is the way it will always stay.
