The tongue is such a tiny member,
There is something about it you need to remember.
In a short time it can cause so much destruction, It might take a lifetime of reconstruction.
That tiny member is the hardest to tame.
On it much of life's troubles we can blame.
Against a good person it can cause so much pain, Their life might never get back together again.
Small as it may be, it has caused so much harm, And by its smooth words can spread its charm.
It doesn't mind who it hurts along the way, As long as it has the last say.
It has spread its lies and deceit,
Its good at it, and these things it will repeat.
It has said things about its best friend.
Its destruction never seems to end.
It doesn't mind on whom it tells a lie, And the good character of a man must die.
On and on the vicious cycle goes.
How many people it has hurt, only Jesus knows.
What it says sometimes can be very brief, But can cause a lifetime of grief.
Are you going to let it have the last word?
It can keep you from Christ; this be assured.
Turn your life over to Jesus now.
He can use the tongue for good; He knows just how.
Don't let it any longer control your life.
It has already caused enough pain and strife.
